Exploring the Isle of Skye and Beyond with Go Explore Scotland Motorhome Adventures

There's something incredibly liberating about the open road. The freedom to go wherever you want, whenever you want, is a feeling that's hard to beat. And when you're exploring the rugged beauty of Scotland, that feeling is amplified tenfold. Recently, my family and I embarked on a journey through Scotland's lesser-known gems, courtesy of a motorhome rented from Go Explore Scotland.

Our first stop was the Isle of Skye. Known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque villages, and medieval castles, the Isle of Skye is a place that feels like it's been plucked straight from a fairy tale. We parked our motorhome on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, the waves crashing against the rocks below. The salty sea air was invigorating, the endless expanse of ocean a reminder of our small place in the world.

We spent our days on Skye hiking the Quiraing, a landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, the northernmost summit of the Trotternish. The views were breathtaking, the Scottish landscape unfolding before us in a tapestry of green and blue. At night, we returned to our motorhome, a cozy haven amidst the wild Scottish weather.

Next, we ventured to the Cairngorms National Park, a place of natural beauty that's home to five of the UK's six highest mountains. The park is a haven for wildlife, and we were lucky enough to spot red deer, golden eagles, and even a few elusive Scottish wildcats. The motorhome proved to be the perfect base for our explorations, allowing us to wake up each morning surrounded by the beauty of the Cairngorms.

From there, we headed to the picturesque village of Plockton. Known as the "Jewel of the Highlands", Plockton is a charming place with its palm trees, beautiful bay, and stunning views of Loch Carron. We parked our motorhome on the outskirts of the village, and spent our days exploring the local area, enjoying fresh seafood, and chatting with the friendly locals.

Our next stop was the Isle of Mull, a place of diverse landscapes, from its dramatic coastline to its high mountains and vast moorlands. We spent our days exploring the island, visiting the colorful town of Tobermory, and spotting wildlife, including otters and seals. The motorhome was a godsend, allowing us to explore at our own pace
