Exploring the Hidden Gems of Scotland in a Motorhome Plockton to St Andrews

There's something incredibly liberating about hitting the road in a motorhome, leaving the hustle and bustle of city life behind, and setting off on an adventure to explore the hidden gems of Scotland. I recently had the pleasure of doing just that, courtesy of Go Explore Scotland, a fantastic motorhome rental company. Over the course of a week, my partner and I journeyed through five stunning locations, each with its unique charm and beauty. This trip was not just a vacation, but a voyage of discovery, and I'm thrilled to share it with you.

Our first stop was the picturesque village of Plockton, nestled on the shores of Loch Carron. The quaint, palm tree-lined streets, the charming cottages, and the breathtaking views of the loch were a sight to behold. We parked our motorhome on the outskirts of the village and spent a delightful day exploring the local attractions. We took a boat trip to spot seals, enjoyed a leisurely walk along the harbour, and savoured some delicious seafood at the Plockton Shores restaurant. The convenience and comfort of our motorhome made our stay in Plockton all the more enjoyable.

Next, we headed to the Isle of Skye, a place of rugged beauty and dramatic landscapes. The drive was a spectacle in itself, with the Scottish weather adding a touch of magic to the scenery. The misty mountains, the glistening lochs, and the vibrant heather fields seemed to come straight out of a painting. We visited the Fairy Pools, a series of crystal-clear pools and waterfalls, and the Quiraing, a stunning landslip on the Trotternish ridge. The motorhome proved to be a perfect base for our adventures, providing a cosy retreat after a day of hiking and exploring.

Our third destination was the charming town of Pitlochry, located in the heart of Scotland. Known for its scenic beauty and Victorian architecture, Pitlochry offered a delightful mix of culture and nature. We visited the Blair Athol Distillery, one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland, and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, known as 'Scotland's Theatre in the Hills'. Our motorhome was a convenient and comfortable base, allowing us to enjoy the town at our own pace.

The fourth stop on our journey was the coastal town of St. Andrews, famous for its ancient university and historic golf course. We strolled along the beautiful West Sands Beach, visited the
