Exploring the Enchanting Isle of Skye and Beyond in a Go Explore Scotland Motorhome

There's something inherently magical about Scotland. Its rugged landscapes, steeped in history and folklore, are a sight to behold. And what better way to explore this enchanting land than in a motorhome? My family and I recently embarked on a journey through Scotland, renting a motorhome from Go Explore Scotland. We decided to steer clear of the major cities, instead opting to explore the lesser-known gems of the country. Here's a recount of our unforgettable journey through five such places.

Our first stop was the Isle of Skye. Known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque villages, and medieval castles, Skye is a place that seems to have been plucked straight out of a fairy tale. The motorhome gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace, stopping whenever a view took our breath away. We hiked up to the Old Man of Storr, a large pinnacle of rock that stands high and can be seen for miles around. The Scottish weather, unpredictable as always, added to the mystique of the place. One moment the sun was shining, the next it was raining, but it only added to the charm of Skye.

Next, we headed to the Cairngorms National Park. The park is a paradise for nature lovers, with its snow-capped mountains, crystal clear lochs, and vast forests. We parked our motorhome at one of the many campsites in the park, which was a great way to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the place. We spent our days hiking, bird watching, and even tried our hand at skiing. At night, we would return to our cosy motorhome, cook a hearty meal, and share stories of the day's adventures.

Our third stop was the charming town of Pitlochry. Nestled in the heart of Scotland, Pitlochry is known for its stunning scenery and rich cultural heritage. We visited the Blair Athol Distillery, one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland, where we learned about the art of whisky making and even got to sample some. We also explored the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, known as 'Scotland's Theatre in the Hills'. The motorhome was a convenient base, allowing us to explore the town and its surrounding areas without having to worry about accommodation or travel.

From Pitlochry, we made our way to the coastal town of Oban. Known as the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland', Oban did not disappoint. We feasted on fresh seafood, caught just hours before. The highlight of our visit was a trip to the Oban Distillery, where we sampled their famous single malt whisky. The motorhome was a godsend, allowing us to enjoy the town without worrying about catching a ferry or finding a hotel.

Our final stop was the Isle of Mull. Known for its diverse wildlife, Mull is a haven for nature enthusiasts. We spotted eagles, seals, and even otters. The colourful harbour town of Tobermory, with its brightly painted buildings, was a delightful surprise. We parked our motorhome at a campsite overlooking the sea, and the view was simply breathtaking.

Our journey through Scotland in a motorhome was an experience like no other. The freedom and flexibility it offered made our trip all the more enjoyable. Whether it was waking up to a stunning sunrise over a loch or cooking dinner with a view of the mountains, every moment was special. The motorhome was comfortable and spacious, perfect for both couples and families. It was our home away from home.

Scotland, with its stunning landscapes, rich history, and warm people, left a lasting impression on us. And exploring it in a motorhome from Go Explore Scotland was the cherry on top. It allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in the beauty and charm of the country. So, if you're planning a trip to Scotland, consider renting a motorhome. It's an adventure you won't forget.
