Exploring Inverclyde's Beauty: A Family Adventure in a Go Explore Scotland Motorhome

Exploring Inverclyde's Beauty: A Family Adventure in a Go Explore Scotland Motorhome

As the sun rose over the Scottish Highlands, we embarked on our journey to explore the beautiful region of Inverclyde, nestled on the west coast of Scotland. Our home for the next week was a comfortable, fully-equipped motorhome rented from Go Explore Scotland. The motorhome, with its cosy interior and panoramic windows, was the perfect vehicle to explore the rugged landscapes and picturesque towns of Inverclyde.

Our first stop was the bustling town of Greenock, a maritime hub with a rich history. We parked our motorhome near the Custom House Museum, a grand Georgian building that tells the story of Greenock's past. The kids loved the interactive exhibits, while we adults enjoyed the stunning views of the Clyde from the museum's café.

Next, we headed to the Greenock Cut, an aqueduct that offers a fantastic walking trail with panoramic views of the Clyde. The Scottish weather, as unpredictable as ever, decided to bless us with a sudden downpour. But, as they say, there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. So, we donned our waterproofs and continued our walk, laughing as we splashed through puddles.

The following day, we drove our motorhome to the charming village of Inverkip. We spent the morning exploring the marina, watching the yachts bobbing gently in the water. The kids tried their hand at crabbing, with hilarious results. Our youngest managed to catch a shoe, while our eldest caught a crab so big it nearly pulled him into the water!

In the afternoon, we visited the Ardgowan Estate, a stunning country house set in beautiful gardens. We enjoyed a picnic in the grounds, the Scottish sun warming our faces as we feasted on local cheese and oatcakes.

Our motorhome journey took us next to Gourock, a seaside town with a lovely promenade and outdoor swimming pool. The kids insisted on a swim, despite the chilly Scottish weather. We adults opted for a hot coffee at a nearby café, watching the kids' blue faces with amusement as they braved the cold water.

The beauty of exploring Inverclyde in a motorhome is the freedom it offers. We could follow our own schedule, stopping whenever we wanted to admire the view or explore a new place. The kids loved the adventure of sleeping in a different place each night, while we adults appreciated the convenience and comfort of our mobile home.

Our final stop was the town of Port Glasgow, where we visited the Newark Castle. The kids loved exploring the castle, pretending to be knights and princesses. We enjoyed the stunning views of the Clyde from the castle walls, the Scottish landscape bathed in the soft light of the setting sun.

As we drove our motorhome back to Go Explore Scotland, we reflected on our journey. We had explored beautiful towns, walked in stunning landscapes, and laughed at the unpredictable Scottish weather. We had created memories that would last a lifetime, all from the comfort of our motorhome.

Exploring Inverclyde in a motorhome is a fantastic way to see this beautiful part of Scotland. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family seeking adventure, a motorhome offers the freedom and flexibility to create your own unique journey. So why not rent a motorhome from Go Explore Scotland and start your own Scottish adventure?

As the Scottish saying goes, "We're all Jock Tamson's bairns" - we're all the same under the skin. And in a motorhome, exploring the beautiful landscapes of Inverclyde, we truly felt part of the Scottish family.
